Sports Massage in Staines

For general muscular aches and pains as well as general stress and tension

massage

Introduction

Sports massage is a deep, invigorating massage. It is not just for sports people, in fact the massage therapist at Staines Chiropractic is trained in remedial massage too; a more relaxing version. Both sports massage and remedial massage techniques can release tense muscles, reduce the build-up of scar tissue or help relaxation.

If you are unsure whether massage is right for you, we suggest you call the clinic and speak to our friendly reception team, or ask to speak to one of the Chiropractors. They will point you in the right direction.

What can Sports Massage be useful for?

Through poor posture, overuse, or the stresses and strains of every-day life, muscles can become overworked causing aches and pains.  Massage releases these tight muscles and relieves these symptoms.

One-off sessions tend to provide short-term relief. Regular sessions tend to produce longer-term results.

Sports Massage can:

a) Improve the recovery time after exercise and competition

b) Prevent injury

c) Improve muscle flexibility

d) Reduce stress and tension

e) Help rehabilitation after injury

d) Enhance the immune system

Remedial Massage can:

a) Relieve tired and aching muscles

b) Aid rehabilitation after an injury

c) Enhance the immune system

d) Aid mental relaxation which can reduce tension generally

Who is Sports Massage useful for?

Massage is great for people with muscular complaints of all ages. If you have any underlying pathology that you know of, it is important to let the massage therapist know as you may not be suitable for massage.

How do Sports Massage sessions work?

Sports Massage appointments are generally booked by time – from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. We recommend your first appointment is 1 hour long as the massage therapist will need a chance to ask questions about your health history, your activity levels and any  injuries. The length of subsequent massages is up to you. As a guide, if there is a specific muscle injury that needs attention then we suggest 30 minutes, if a large area or multiple areas need work then we advise 60 minutes.
