Our Doctors of Chiropractic are experts in the mechanics of the body. They can diagnose and treat problems with the muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body. Most people know chiropractors for their skill in treating the spine, but they look at how the whole body moves and functions. This means great results with injuries in the extremities too.

At Staines Chiropractic, we want to find out what the injury is, but we also want to understand why you have the injury. If we can do this we can stop the injury from returning.

Pain or stiffness is what usually motivates someone to seek help from our chiropractors. If it involves the muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons or nerves of the body then they should be able to help. And if they can not help they’ll be honest! It is likley they’ll know someone who can help and they’ll refer you on.

Recent high-quality evidence shows that chiropractic treatment is particularly effective for:

  • Lower-back Pain
  • Sports Injuries
  • Neck Pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • Hip osteoarthritis
  • Knee osteoarthritis
  • Headaches
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Hip, knee and foot pain
  • Elbow and wrist pain

If you are unsure whether chiropractic is right for you, please contact our Staines clinic. If necessary, a complementary telephone consultation with one of our chiropractors can be arranged.

Our Chiropractors provide a package of care. They’ll use a range of “hands-on” techniques such as joint manipulation, dry needling, fascial and muscle release techniques and taping. This is combined with bespoke exercises and lifestyle advice. The science says that this combination of techniques is fantastic at treating the majority of musculoskeletal injuries.

The Chiropractors here at Staines Chiropractic often work together with other health-care providers such as your GP, physiotherapist, personal trainer or a specialist. With your permission your chiropractor may send a report to your GP informing them about your condition and the treatment you are receiving.

Chiropractic can benefit people of all ages; from new born babies following the birthing process to the elderly with osteoarthritis.  Your chiropractor simply adapts the treatment techniques to suit your age, body type and complaint.

a) Initial consultations at Staines Chiropractic will last between 40-60 minutes. Treatment is generally started on this first visit, however, occasionally some patients require further testing before it is considered safe to start treatment. Such tests include X-rays or MRI scans or a referral to a consultant or GP. For your peace of mind, if these tests are required then the clinic can usually organise them for you to make the process quick and easy.

b) Subsequent visits tend to be much shorter in duration and involve a treatment, usually followed by some advice and/or a home-exercise plan. Regular re-assessments take place to monitor your condition and ensure you are receiving the results you anticipated

On your first visit during your “report of findings”, your chiropractor will give you a guideline of how many sessions it may take before you expect an improvement.  In the mean time, there is no quick answer to the above question but we realise it is an important one, so we will try and give you an idea.

Firstly, there are many variables that can influence the speed at which someone responds to treatments:

  • The actual diagnosis
  • Age
  • Length of time you’ve had the problem
  • Previous episodes of the condition
  • Previous traumas to the area
  • Activity or fitness levels
  • Family history
  • Stress
  • Diet
  • Medication

For example, a fit, healthy 20 year old with their first episode of pain in an area may require 5 treatments with some advice and exercises before the problem is resolved and they need no further care.

Whereas a sedentary 60 year old who has had a constant niggle in an area for 20 years since an accident may require 10 treatments before they report considerable relief. After this, they may need to perform regular exercises and may wish to have an occasional check-up every few months to “manage” the complaint and prevent it from worsening again.

“Feeling great! Ready to be a golfer again!”
Sir Nick Faldo, Professional Golfer and 6 times Major Championships Winner

“Whereas most Chiropractors I’ve seen have listened for the first 15 minutes of contact then proceeded to treat only with a formulaic manipulation regime thereafter, Nick starts at step one each time assessing my condition and adapting his treatment technique to address each malady that I have brought his way.”
